How STIKABA Controls Access and Protects Use
How STIKABA
Protects Use and Access
STIKABA uses multiple layers of protection to control who can use the STIKABA, who can access encrypted data, and how long that access remains available.
To encrypt, decrypt, or manage Keys, the user must have a STIKABA physically plugged into the PC, have the STIKABA Dashboard downloaded from the SyferSafe website and installed, and have a properly initialized and personalized STIKABA, including its user-defined password.
STIKABA provides additional safeguards throughout the encryption and Key-management process:
Password Protection helps prevent unauthorized use of the STIKABA.
Family/Group Keys control the Keys available for encryption and decryption.
Key Validity Dates can limit how long Keys remain usable. Once a Key expires, it can no longer be used to encrypt new data or decrypt previously encrypted data.
Encrypted Key Backup and Export protect Family/Group Keys when they are backed up or transferred.
Directed Key Delivery allows transferred Keys to be designated for use by a specific STIKABA.
Encrypted Data Validity Dates can limit how long encrypted information remains accessible.
Auto-Disable Timeout reduces unattended access by automatically disabling STIKABA operation after a specified period.
These time-based controls are particularly useful because not all information needs to remain accessible forever. A Key can be given a defined lifetime, and encrypted data can have its own validity period, allowing access to automatically end when the information is no longer needed or authorized for use.
STIKABA security therefore extends beyond simply encrypting information. It combines physical possession, user authentication, Key control, secure Key transfer, directed delivery, automatic timeout, and time-limited access to help protect both the use of the STIKABA and access to the data it protects.
STIKABA protects more than the data—it controls the ability to use, access, share, and retain it.
